Three Pre-Owned Nissan SUVs Perfect For Young Families

For decades, Nissan has excelled at developing world class SUVs and crossovers for young, active families on the move. Whether you’re looking for a compact runabout to get to soccer practice or a three-row SUV to transport you and the family to your favourite campsite, there’s a pre-owned Nissan crossover or SUV for you. Here’s a quick look at three options.

Nissan Kicks

The name sounds cool and the Kicks has the styling to back it up with alloy wheel choices ranging in size all the way up to 17-inches for an athletic look, two-tone exterior colour options and an aggressive, sporty take on the Nissan V-motion grille.

Inside, we find special details such as a flat-bottom steering wheel, partially-digitized instrument cluster and the option on the SR model to have Bose speakers mounted into the driver’s headrest. The cargo floor is mounted low for a deep storage area that fits more than the Kicks’ compact dimensions suggest and the rear seats split 40/60 if you’re looking to haul longer items. There’s also child seat anchors mounted to both rear seats.

Power comes courtesy of a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine good for 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque and it all gets channeled to the front wheels via a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue is one of the bestselling Nissan models of all-time; owners love it for the amount of space found inside, smooth ride, the efficient powertrains and smart interior features. When the Rogue got redesigned for 2020 it added more upmarket styling, better interior materials and, crucially, a potent 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder was later added for the 2022 model year. That engine is good for 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque, fed to all four wheesl via a smooth-operating CVT transmission. That transmission, plus the three-cylinder engine combine to use just 7.2L/100 km of fuel in the combined cycle. That’s great for saving money at the pump both on the school run and on family road trips.

Inside, the Rogue offers family-friendly additions like a front center console that can be accessed from the rear seats, a Divide-N-Hide adjustable rear cargo floor that allows for some underfloor storage for dirty sports equipment, USB ports up front and in back and optional heated rear seats.

Speaking of the seats: Nissan turned to a partnership with NASA to design the Rogue’s “Zero Gravity seats” that are meant to offer both the cushioning and the support required for long drives.

Nissan Pathfinder

This is the family-moving champ of the group; the Pathfinder comes with three-rows of seating, the second of which will tilt and slide forward to provide access to the third row. That means you can leave a child’s seat installed in the second row and still move the seat to access the third row.

Third row occupants, meanwhile, are provided with some of the best headroom and legroom in the business, which should be more than enough for the kids you’ll likely be transporting back there.

Power for most pre-owned Pathfinder models comes courtesy of a 3.5-litre V6, ranging in horsepower from 260 horsepower in 2015, to 285 hp as recently as 2022. If you’re looking for something a little different, then there was a Pathfinder Hybrid available in 2014 that made 250 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque and paired with an all-wheel-drive powertrain.

With the diverse SUV and crossover line-up that Nissan has offered throughout the years, there’s always a pre-owned option that will fit your needs and your budget. Add Nissan’s exceptional track record of durability and reliability, and you can see why any family considering a pre-owned SUV or crossover should consider a Nissan.
