Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE Snags a Spot on Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems for 2023

In a prestigious recognition, the Nissan Ariya's e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system has been listed among "Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems" for the year 2023. This acknowledgement further solidifies the Ariya’s standing as an electric vehicle (EV) leader, coming on the heels of its previous recognition by Wards for having one of the "10 Best Interiors & UX."

This marks the 20th award that Nissan has received from Wards since the inception of the awards program in 1995, aimed at lauding the pinnacles of automotive powertrain engineering. Importantly, this is not Nissan’s first foray into winning this accolade for an EV powertrain; the Nissan LEAF was recognized back in 2011 as the first electric motor to win the award.

Equipped with dual electric motors, the e-4ORCE technology delivers power to all four wheels. The moniker itself is an acronym, where 'e' stands for the 100% electric motor drive system, while '4ORCE' (pronounced as 'force') symbolizes the vehicle's robust physical energy, with the numeral '4' denoting all-wheel control. The technology is engineered to manage power output and braking performance in a way that maximizes driver control and confidence across various road conditions.

WardsAuto judges were particularly impressed by the e-4ORCE’s performance capabilities. Drew Winter, a contributing editor at WardsAuto, pointed out that the system offers a strong mix of power and range options. It excels not only in launching the vehicle but also in high-speed overtaking scenarios where some EVs might fall short. Christie Schweinsberg, a Wards intelligence analyst, commented on the Ariya's impressive speed in both Standard and Eco modes, noting its smooth and quiet operation.

Wards' extensive panel of experienced journalists assessed 32 all-new or substantially revised propulsion systems this year. They evaluated them on various factors including horsepower, torque, noise level, and the application of innovative technologies. Ariya's e-4ORCE met and exceeded these stringent criteria, making it an ideal choice for daily commuting as well as long-distance road trips.

With this award, the Ariya demonstrates Nissan’s commitment to design, technology, performance, and sustainability. It further cements the vehicle’s status as a formidable contender in the ever-growing EV market.
