Nissan ARIYA Achieves IIHS Top Safety Pick+ for 2023

The 2023 ARIYA, Nissan’s newest electric vehicle, has achieved the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This recognition places the ARIYA at the forefront of vehicle safety in its class.

Safety Test Performance

To attain the Top Safety Pick+ award, the IIHS has stringent criteria. A vehicle must secure a 'good' rating in several critical areas: the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and the updated side tests. Additionally, it requires acceptable or good standard headlights across all models and a front crash prevention system with advanced or superior ratings in both daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.

Enhancements in 2023

Vehicles produced in 2023 have incorporated crucial improvements to meet the Top Safety Pick+ standards. The standard front crash prevention system in these models received superior ratings in both daytime and nighttime pedestrian evaluations. Moreover, an optional system available on the ARIYA also achieved a superior daytime rating and an advanced nighttime rating. Notably, adjustments to the LED projector headlights, standard across all trims, enhanced their performance from a marginal to an acceptable rating.

Comparison with Top Safety Pick Criteria

The criteria for the lower-tier Top Safety Pick award are less stringent. For this category, an acceptable rating in the updated side test suffices, and only an advanced or superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian test is required. The ARIYA's achievement of the Top Safety Pick+ underscores its superior safety features compared to vehicles meeting only the basic criteria.

The Nissan ARIYA's achievement of the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award in 2023 is a significant milestone, demonstrating its adherence to high safety standards. This accolade reflects the vehicle's robust safety features and its commitment to protecting both passengers and pedestrians.

The Nissan ARIYA e-4ORCE has also been recognized as a ‘Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems’ winner for 2023, further solidifying its position as a leader in its class.
